Australian Unions

Many Australian unions now have specific OHS information on their websites.

Unions (Victorian and National)


AEU - Australian Education Union
The AEU has information for OHS reps on their website

AMIEU - Australasian Meat Industry Employees Union
The Victorian Branch of the Meatworkers Union, which has a specific OHS site meatiesohs.org with the latest campaigns, local and international news, resources and information for OHS Reps. The union also has a regular OHS newsletter.

AMWU - Australian Manufacturing Workers Union
The OHS section of the AMWU (National) website has lots of information which would be of interest to workers in manufacturing, including alerts, OHS news, the AMWU OHS Manual, and a regular OHS Bulletin.

CFMEU OHS site
This is the Construction Forestry Mining & Energy Union (CFMEU) OHS page. The Pulp and Paper Industry National has a separate OHS site . The site provides information specific to this industry, including Australia wide issues and legislation.

CPSU SPSF OHS site
The Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) website features dedicated OHS infornation for workers in state and federal government employ.

Electrical Trades Union (Southern States Branch) (Division of the CEPU)
The ETU's OHS section has OHS Policies, Alerts, OHS Manual and information on product recalls. Also of interest is the monthly OHS Newsletter as well as the monthly eTU Online Newsletter which gives up to date information on general union developments.

MEAA website - Alliance online
The Media Entertainment and Arts Alliance (MEAA) has some very good OHS resources on its website, including a research report by ACIRRT: Occupational Health and Safety for News Media Workers [pdf].  The report covers journalists, photographers, graphic artists, camera and sound crews.  The union also has an OHS sub site

NUW OHS Web Site
Log on to the National Union of Workers OHS web site providing updated information and resources for NUW reps and members (note: the site is being reorganised, so at the moment, not much information).

Plumbers' Union (Division of the CEPU) has hazard alerts, fact sheets, information on courses on its OHS page.

Pulp and Paper
Pulp and Paper Industry Occupational Health, Safety and Environment Unit website - a joint industry/union (
the Pulp and Paper division of the CFMEU) venture.

TWU - Transport Workers Union The OH&S section of the TWU site is continually being supplemented with information: current content includes News, Events, Guidance Notes and a PIN.

UFU - United Firefighters Union (Victorian Branch) website has its OHS agreements, policies and documents available to download.
 

Union Councils, Labour Councils


ACTU - Australian Council of Trade Unions
Check out the great new-look ACTU site. The site has information on campaigns, both OHS and other; labour news; press releases and heaps of OHS related links.  The ACTU has an OHS section  which has a number of very useful links, as well as information and resources, and international OHS news.

South Australian Trades and Labour Council OHS Resource
This site has been developed by the SA Trades & Labour Council to provice assistance to union officials, OHS reps, members of committees, etc. While the advice on legislation is specific to South Australia (which is different to the Victorian legislation), there is useful advice on OHS and Enterprise Bargaining, hazards and more links.

UnionSafe
The UnionSafe website is a Labor Council of NSW initiative and is funded by WorkCover NSW. It provides information for workplace delegates (workplace rights, risks and campaigns), union officials and educators.

Unionsafe Network, Queensland
The UnionSafe Network is a collaborative project involving Queensland unions working together and pooling resources relating to Occupational Health and Safety. The network is facilitated by the Queensland Council of Unions Workers Health Centre.
