The main piece of legislation which covers occupational health and safety in most Victorian workplaces is the Occupational Health and Safety Act, 2004. To read more detail about the Act, click on this heading in the column on the left.
As well as the Act, there are the consolidated Regulations and Compliance Codes (progressively replacing the old Codes of Practice). Regulations are law, and must be complied with, whereas codes are not law, but advice on how to comply.
